The UAE’s central banks have established strategies and policies aimed at fostering sustainable growth in the banking sector. The year 2023 showed significant progress, and 2024 is set for continued expansion and recovery.
Dedicated to meeting the human resources demands of the UAE banking sector, our client offers a comprehensive array of degree programs and diplomas in banking and finance, along with various training initiatives focused on banking and insurance sectors.
The Challenge
In alignment with the objectives of the central banks, our client aimed to equip their students with the requisite skills to thrive in finance roles. Their goal was to cultivate knowledgeable and capable bankers, adept not only in banking principles but also in effective leadership practices. By preparing fresh graduates for the banking sector, they aimed to contribute to the enhancement and sustainable growth of the UAE banking industry.
The Solution
To support the client’s objectives, Kaplan developed a comprehensive training program of 14 weeks divided into two phases and conducted in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. We successfully delivered two cohorts.
During the first phase of the training program, participants delved into a wide range of banking and finance subjects. They gained insights into different banking products and operational mechanisms tailored for both individuals and businesses. They also understood the regulatory framework governing banking activities and the importance of quality and ethics. It was a comprehensive introduction to the field of finance.
Phase two of the training program was a blend of essential knowledge and practical skills tailored to empower professionals within the industry. Spanning across diverse areas such as banking practices, customer-centric methodologies, and meticulous financial operations and analysis, our program ensured that participants were equipped with the acumen necessary for success in their respective domains. Participants were given three pathways, and each pathway provided specialized education to equip participants with fundamental skills relevant to client interactions, retail and corporate banking products, and treasury operations. This phase of the training program also focused on behavioural and leadership development, enhancing interpersonal skills to prepare participants for success in their fields.
Our training approach combined several key elements to ensure an effective and enriching learning experience. We strategically utilized interactive and realistic business cases, tailored to the UAE banking industry, ensuring topics were relevant and engaging. Through a series of practical exercises and assignments, we focused on nurturing functional skills and tools essential for participants’ current roles. Following each phase, a comprehensive final exam was conducted to assess participants’ understanding and proficiency. Additionally, our program facilitated ongoing assessment of student progress through weekly reporting, supplemented by detailed individual feedback provided to both participants and our esteemed client.
To cultivate a culture of motivation and continuous improvement, we instilled a sense of healthy competition and regularly recognized top performers. Furthermore, our interactive learning platforms added an element of fun to the learning process, while dedicated WhatsApp support ensured students had access to timely assistance and clarification from trainers at Kaplan.
To ensure seamless execution and attainment of all the objectives, the Kaplan project services team provided end-to-end project management. Spearheaded by an experienced project manager, our team oversaw all project stakeholders, facilitated remote operational support, and maintained robust project communication channels to ensure the program’s success.
The Impact
With a stellar 80% effectiveness rating in achieving its objectives, the training program received exceptional feedback. The learning content, the trainer, and the knowledge and skills gained through the training were highly praised with a remarkable 84% satisfaction rating.
The program provided participants with a broad understanding of the banking and finance sector, encompassing operations, management, legal and ethical considerations. It equipped them with the skills necessary to handle various banking functions and compliance issues, enhancing their ability to work effectively within the industry while upholding high standards of integrity.
